They do make to order airstreams with a large door that opens in the back for your bikes and you can order a lifted trailer. Just a thought !

Have you taken a look at Outdoors RV? Their trailers are made on an off road capable chassis with actual shock absorbers and higher ply tires, with good ground clearance. They are 4 season insulated with enclosed holding tanks. The other option is a Northwood Desert Fox toy hauler. (related company I believe) Also built with off road chassis. Large holding tanks, with generator, fuel station, onboard compressor, pressure wash, outside shower. Very big windows. Outdoors RV is also about to release off road capable toy haulers.

I've only been to one RV show and it was a similar dealer event. I also came away somewhat less than blown away by the options and it made me more convinced I will be forced to build what I want from scratch (unless I have a windfall of cash and can commission a Sportsmobile build).

It almost sounds like you need to duplicate the rig of Less Junk More Journey: Bikes in the van, living with a kid in the Airstream.

Just wondering if you've considered converting a cargo trailer to a camper and if that would fit your needs for possibly better quality than the mainstream RVs have to offer?

Stumbled on your yourtube channel. Trying to figure out why on earth would you disable comments? In the beginning of your video you say "hello exploreres," and make other comments like, "for those of you who have been following us for a while..."

But there is little evidence there is a community of people following you; or just how active that community is. This is just odd. Ive never seen a youtube channel that shunned its viewers.

This puzzled me, too, CJM. There must have been an incident that prompted them to close comments. I've followed them on YouTube off and on and they used to have active engagement with their viewers. It's a shame, because we all lose out when the communication is only one way. I hope they will reconsider opening comments at some point.

Moments ago, I saw your RV Super Show video, (TMWE S4.E24) posted 11/25/2018; and I have a few comments.

I agree with much of your video commentary; and add this as my WISH LIST of RV design and construction improvements:

1.) Skip the curvilinear exterior graphics, fit for a '70 disco. Instead add camo, forest or desert scenes, or nothing at all.

2.) Stop designing to match the home interior that I left behind in the suburbs with cathedral-top oak kitchen cabinet fronts, built-in microwave, night-stand bed cabinets, traditional hollow-core interior doors, etc. Design more convertible spaces where every space can be used for many purposes; and to extent possible, include bathrooms in convertibility. Use more curtains to divide spaces, fewer stationary interior walls.

3.) Use more water-resistant surface materials; diamond plate, or full-sheet vinyl, or fiberglass gel surfaces. No carpet; removable rugs optional. Back home, I want to be able to clean my RV interior with a garden hose or at a DIY, commercial carwash bay.

4.) More and better wet bath designs by combining or overlapping the 3 utility fixtures. And/or, as Steve & Tess said, move the vanity sink into the Commons.

5.) More stealth designs, fit for urban camping. Design the exterior to look like other things such as commercial tradesmen vehicles, etc. Take hint from Wells Cargo Inc, among others.

6.) Fewer built-ins because they restrict convertibility, are more expensive to buy initially, then later service or replace, requiring trip to dealership. In contrast, install clip-in brackets and tie-down clips everywhere. Take hint from garage storage systems.

More, quick-concept ideas:

7.) Consider sky windows instead of wall windows.
8.) Refrigerators that runs on old-school ice blocks, saving electricity, coolant and service costs.
9.) Summer cooling that runs on good insulation and passive air technologies.
10.) Hammocks instead of mattresses.
11.) Require every furniture item to serve 2 or more uses; in other words, Murphy-ize everything.
12.) More exterior doors. Every RV should be able to haul toys inside during travel. Further, these doors become escapes in case of fire. When feasible, doors should go up as awnings, or down as ramps.

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts.

Bed and trundle for child, all amenities and insulation, solar, furnace, hot water, wood heat, propane, dinette, etc.Google or youtube Camp #215 USNERDOC bettter than airstream. Pricey yes, high resale, been looking, and not junk.. Made in UTAH.

Steve and Tess love to explore nature, whether it be backpacking, packrafting, mountain biking, hiking, or just wandering.  The more we explore, the more we realize just how little we've seen.
