A lot of planning went into our SoCal trip. We started working on the reservations about 3 months ahead of time. All the state parks people had recommended to us were already full on the weekends and the private parks were so expensive we'd run through our monthly park budget within days. We eventually started looking at places further inland than LA, Orange County and San Diego. Staying in these inland locations has allowed us to day trip closer to coast where the action is without the cost or traffic stress of towing the Airstream with us. The San Jacinto Valley has made a great location for us since we have friends and relatives in the neighborhood. And as a bonus it's beautiful and green right now because it's been such a rainy winter. We had a lot of anxiety about this SoCal trip but it's been a great experience so far.

AuthorSteve and Tess love to explore nature, whether it be backpacking, packrafting, mountain biking, hiking, or just wandering. The more we explore, the more we realize just how little we've seen. Archives
