In this episode we check out the 10th annual Cruise-a-Thong triathlon in Pagosa Springs, CO. This is a family-friendly "race" for the average Joe. Like a triathlon, the course consists of three legs; however, this race was a bit more relaxed. 1. The first let is a “cruiser” bike ride (or other self-propelled method of transportation) through downtown Pagosa Springs. 2. Next, a thong (that is to say “flip-flop”) walk along the “almost world famous” Pagosa Springs River Walk. 3. Lastly, a tube float (or other flotation device) down the San Juan River. The race rewards being average, so leave your sports drinks and power gels at home! It doesn't take brute strength, endurance, or fortitude, but it does take a sense of humor, adventurous spirits, and under-inflated egos. The winner is the Jo(e) that posts the most average time. In addition, scoring by somewhat capricious judges may also take into account bonus poinst for consumption of edibles at locally sponsored "comfort stations", gears on the bike in excess of one, any "flip-flops" lost during the race, or any other element that makes a participant more or less average. Of course, the event organizers want to make sure that participants are not over-exerted during the completion of this demanding don't-try-athalon. This event was an absolute riot, and we can't wait to go back as participants one day with our friends. What a great outing in an amazing location. One thing we love about our new nomadic lifestyle is the fact that even though we still have to work, as soon as we finish for the day, we're on vacation. For example: come 5 o'clock, we can put our pack-rafts in the River that runs along the edge of our campground and float into town. And since our house has wheels, there will always be new things to see and do. It's not a bad way to live. We recently took a scenic drive a couple hours away to meet up with Nathan, Marissa and Hensley of Less Junk More Journey. The drive was great and the company was even better. We've made it to Pagosa Springs, CO. It's absolutely gorgeous here. We've had time to settle in a little bit and start getting used to living, working, and cooking in the Airstream. Fender is happy spending more time outside than he ever has in his life, and he seems very calm and relaxed. Steve is plenty busy with work, and Tess is even busier with the website and YouTube channel.
We've been here in Pagosa for a little over 5 days, and we love this town. We have discovered endless recreation opportunities here, and since we have a pretty stable internet connection at a gorgeous RV park, we've decided to extend our stay at our campground for another week. It's beautiful here; sometimes we like to sit outside and work. In case you haven't caught our recent videos, here are a few from this week (with the newest video first). Those of you who subscribe to our YouTube channel should be getting notified each time we post a new video, so a few of these are repeats. If you're not subscribed to YouTube yet, it's a piece of cake and it's a great way to stay up to date every time we upload new content. Just head over to our YouTube page and click the red "subscribe" button. :) Life is so great, and we're so grateful for all of you who follow along and send your king thoughts and love. And we have a little challenge for you today: think of three of your friends who would enjoy following our story too. Tell them about what we're doing, and if they seem excited to learn more, send them to our YouTube page, or to our website. Thanks for all the support friends, we really appreciate all you do for us. Sincerely, Steve, Tess, and Fender We're Rving like couple of noobs and exploring Mesa Verde National Park. We figured it'd be a good idea to live in the airstream for a week before hitting the road. We're finally moving in!
It's a mad dash to be ready to leave for our full time RV adventure starting this weekend. You may not hear much from us for the next few days but stick around so you don't miss the madness that's about to ensue! Here's a peek at today's to do list:

AuthorSteve and Tess love to explore nature, whether it be backpacking, packrafting, mountain biking, hiking, or just wandering. The more we explore, the more we realize just how little we've seen. Archives
